The Royal Society celebrates the best books that communicate science to young people through their Young People's Book Prize.
Each year an expert panel of adult judges choose a shortlist of their favourite science books from entries submitted by publishers. Once the six best books have been selected they hand over the task of picking a winner to those who know best – groups of young people under 14 across the UK. These groups can be formed in any setting, from schools and libraries to scouts and brownies, science centres or youth groups. They form their own judging panels, read and discuss the books and submit their verdict to the Royal Society - together they decide the winner.
In order to help libraries promote this great prize to their readers, we have free promotional materials available. We recommend one pack per service point.
Please note - there are a limited number of packs available, so do order quickly to avoid disappointment.
- 3 double sided posters (A3 one side, 2 A4 on other side)
- 50 Young People's Book Prize bookmarks
The deadline for ordering materials is midday on Friday 21 April.
Packs will be delivered to libraries after the shortlist is announced in May.
Materials are free of charge and there is no charge for P&P. However, the materials are provided by the prize with the understanding that, in return, you send us pictures of the displays you make with the materials.
The best display will win the opportunity for a librarian to attend the winner's event.
