Celebrate International Women's Day and the tireless work of librarians by sharing a wonderful video interview with author Janet Skeslien Charles on your library's YouTube channel or website.

Janet Skeslien Charles is the award-winning author of the novels Moonlight in Odessa and the The Paris Library, which publishes on 9 February 2021. The book is based on the true story of the heroic librarians at the American Library in Paris who fought to keep the library open during the Nazi Occupation. Moving between nineteen-forties Paris and nineteen-eighties Montana, the story focuses on librarian Odile and the relationships she forms whilst working at the Library. We also meet twelve-year-old Lily, the much older Odile’s next-door neighbour, with whom she strikes up an unlikely friendship. It’s an unforgettable novel of romance, friendship, family, and of heroism found in the quietest of places.

We would love for libraries with a YouTube channel to upload a syndicated video interview between Janet and The Reading Agency on International Women's Day (8 March 2021). Alternatively, libraries can host the host the video on their website. The video is around 30-minutes long and has subtitles.

In the video, Janet reads from the book before discussing the inspiration behind the novel's heroic characters, her early memories of visiting libraries, and the particular magic of the American Library in Paris. It is a joyful and insightful piece of content perfect for celebrating International Women's Day and encouraging readers to discover the book through their library.

To receive a free MP4 file of the video, please place your order no later than Friday 26 February. You will be sent the file on Monday 29 February and will be expected to upload it to your YouTube channel or website and promote it via social media on International Women's Day.
