The International Booker Prize is the world’s most influential award for translated fiction.

In 2026, the Booker Prize Foundation is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the prize in its current form. The first winner in 2016 was The Vegetarian by Han Kang, translated from Korean by Deborah Smith. Since then, it has promoted 10 winners in 10 original languages from Arabic to Polish, Bulgarian to Kannada. Four authors recognised by the International Booker Prize have gone on to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, including Han Kang, Jon Fosse, Annie Ernaux and Olga Tokarczuk. The prize has also helped to drive a boom in translated fiction in the UK: sales have doubled since it launched.

This year’s International Booker Prize campaign is called ‘Fiction beyond borders’. It’s a celebration of the way translated fiction opens us up to different experiences and perspectives, creating connections across continents. Readers from around the world are invited to come together and explore this year’s nominated books – and the previous 10 winners – united by a shared love of great fiction.

The 2026 longlist, announced on Tuesday, 24 February, will celebrate the best works of long-form fiction or collections of short stories translated into English and published in the UK and/or Ireland, as chosen by this year’s judging panel.

Free library display materials

The Booker Prize Foundation team is creating printed and digital display packs to encourage readers to get involved and borrow one of the International Booker Prize nominated books from the library.

Printed materials include A4 posters and bookmarks featuring this year’s longlist, and A4 posters and postcards celebrating the previous 10 winners, including information on how readers can vote for their favourite in our poll. Digital packs contain a suite of assets including images, social media graphics, shelf talkers, and synopses.

To sign up to receive a free display pack, please order below by midday Thursday, 26 February (packs may sell out before this). If you select a printed pack you will also receive a digital pack.

Your printed pack should be with you by Wednesday, 11 March. All materials are printed on FSC-certified paper.

  • Option 1 – Printed pack (2 x A4 posters, 50 x 10th anniversary postcards and 50 x bookmarks) + digital pack
  • Option 2 - Digital pack

WIN TWO TICKETS TO THE INTERNATIONAL BOOKER PRIZE 2026 CEREMONY

What’s more, the Booker Prize Foundation will select one UK-based librarian to win two tickets to the ceremony at London’s Tate Modern on Tuesday, 19 May, along with an overnight stay and travel expenses, and one set of the 2026 longlisted books (terms & conditions apply).

To be in with a chance, simply sign up to receive a printed display pack by midday, Thursday, 26 February and once you receive it, please send a photo of your display to campaigns@readingagency.org.uk

The Booker Prize Foundation will choose a librarian who has, in their opinion, used the materials to put together a particularly creative and original display. The winning librarian will be notified by Thursday, 2 April.
